It is crucial for a freelancer to have income from various sources. For example, what would you do if you your income come from  a few clients and 1 or 2 of them , for any reason, decide to stop working with you? Multiplying your sources of revenue is never easy, but it doesn’t mean it’s not feasible nor it means that you shouldn’t try. There are some not so hard things you can do to try to generate income from various sources.

Work with more than one client at a time.
It may seem obvious, but many freelancers rely only on 1-2 clients to make a living. And even though you have a long term relation with those clients and they give you their jobs for a long time, that doesn’t mean that they will keep doing it. Can you imagine what happens if they do?Overnight, you can find your income decrease in half or even more. Conversely, if you work with many clients it is easier to find the good ones and start working more with them, giving priority to their jobs when you have to decide which ones to get. In this case,  the “filtering” of new customers is much easier. So please take some time between your projects to find new customers and to work with them.

Sign contracts with all your clients
Contracts such as those of the technical assistance of a project that you created, can offer you a sure income every month / year.

Create your own blog
As well as increasing the knowledge, communication and writing skills,a blog is something interesting offers acquaintances (and advertising) and may also generate it’s own income.

Create a product
Currently the chances are that you offer / sell a service and get paid for once. Think about how we can offer / sell as a product that can be refilled several times with much less work. When i say start a small business i’m referring to a more “traditional” business unrelated to the above. For example, created some designs for t-shirts and mugs, do a collaboration with a company that you can print them and then sells online around the world. Such small businesses from home have little financial risk if you “catch” can be converted into regular jobs without having to do almost anything (you can hire freelancers to help you deal with some procedural or issues out of your expertise).
